We strive to be as flexible as possible and treat every individual scenario as just that: individual. Our commitment to flexibility and convenience is reflected in our policies, which give a baseline structure for our clients, students, and tutors.
A copy of our policies can also be found here, in our Tutoring Emporium Client Folder.
If for any reason you do need to make a last-minute adjustment to your schedule, cancel late, or know you will be late, please contact us by calling (984) 322-1752. If no one is available to answer your call, please leave a voicemail or send a text.
We do understand that emergencies, miscommunications, and last-minute complications arise and will try to accommodate each situation fairly. *
Late Cancellations
If you should need to cancel, please let us know at least 6 hours before the session’s scheduled start time through one of the following methods:
Send a text to 984-322-1752
Call us at 984-322-1752 and leave a message
Email us at info@tutoringemporium.com
Sessions canceled within 6 hours of their scheduled start time may be considered a late-cancel.
No-Shows
You may be considered a no-show (and the tutor may leave) if the student is:
15 minutes late for a 60 minute session
20 minutes late for an 80 minute session
10 minutes late for a 30 or 40 minute half-session
Penalties and Fees
As a penalty for a late-cancel or no-show, half a session from the student’s relevant package will be counted as having been used.
If insufficient sessions remain in a student’s package to apply this penalty, the client will instead be charged a penalty fee equal to half the base rate for that session type. This fee must be paid before future sessions of any type can be held.
Penalty fees for each session type are given below.
30-minute Academic: $13.00
60-minute Academic: $26.00
40-minute Academic: $15.50
80-minute Academic: $31.00
SAT/ACT Prep: $55.00
College Application: $35.00
The first Late-Cancel/No-Show penalty is waived.
Repeat Cancellations/Tardiness
While we aim to be as flexible as possible, consistency and reliability are also important to both us and our students. Frequent tardiness and/or cancellation can result in the accumulation of penalty fees or the student’s inability to fully avail of the tutoring time purchased for them. Neither are beneficial to our clients.
Should a student begin to show a pattern of cancelling or tardiness (including, but not limited to late-cancels/no-shows), we may reach out to see what can be done to address the issue. These steps may include the following:
Evaluating if a different day or time for the student’s sessions may be more convenient to their schedule
Discussing if it would be helpful for a student to pause tutoring or reduce its frequency until other obligations become more manageable
If warranted, we may limit a student to scheduling sessions on a week-by-week basis only, removing their ability to schedule weekly recurring (“standing”) sessions. The ability to schedule standing sessions can be revisited, should the student show improvement with keeping to a schedule.
*Additional accommodations may include reduced/waived penalties, meeting a last-minute schedule-change request, giving the student the remainder of their session time, etc., and are at Tutoring Emporium’s discretion.
Should you be dissatisfied for any reason, please let us know. A collaborative solution can often be found through exploring possible adjustments to the student's tutoring experience: modifying the student's session time or duration, opening communications with the student's teachers and other academic support staff, changing instructional approaches, or even changing tutors. We hope that you will reach out to first give us the opportunity to address your concerns before requesting a refund.
In the case that no resolution can be found, our Client Agreement includes a 30-day refund policy:
Put simply, any unused sessions or packages you have purchased are refundable for up to 30 days from their date of purchase. Used sessions cannot be refunded.
